Post-harvest losses are high in the Bangladeshi potato sector. The losses result from improper post-harvest handling, cleaning, grading, bagging, transportation and storage of the potatoes. Also the quality of the harvested potato is often poor. The consortium partners Verbruggen Palletizing Solutions BV, Allround Vegetable Processing BV, Agroplant Holland BV, Deltadesh Pvt Ltd and Advance Consulting work together to support the development of the potato sector in Bangladesh. Together they aim to reduce post-harvest losses, leading to higher net incomes for potato growers and traders.
Advance Consulting is the consortium leader and started the implementation of this three-year project in January 2019. The Government of the Netherlands provides financial support.
